23/12/2015 0 Comments weekly newsletter 22 December 2015Another successful teams race event on a clear Sunday morning. The race was split in two divisions; division one was timed handicap race and division two was untimed participation event. About 34 teams competed in both divisions of the event. Club members had the opportunity to meet new people or rekindle old friendships during the race. Dave Leckenby did a great job in working out handicaps so the teams were evenly matched. This culminated in interesting results.

There will be only 2 start times with a male and female wave. We have our novice day on November 8th. The committee would like to encourage all members to bring along friends, work colleagues, family who would like to try a tri. non members still need to register online by midday on Saturday. Official first club race of the season done and dusted. Despite a large number of members journeying to the Sunshine Coast we still had a great turn out. 56 starters for the long course and 17 over the shorter distance. Richard Pearson was fastest on the day , followed closely by Isiah Koopmans.
A little disappointing was the number of people noticed drafting. Rule 3.9a states: "For all events with a cycling distance up to and including 40 kilometres, the bicycle draft zone is a rectangle 7 metres long and 3 metres wide that surrounds every bicycle competitor and every motorcycle on the bicycle course. The front edge of the front bicycle and motorcycle wheel defines the centre of the leading 3 metres edge of the rectangle Competitors have 15 seconds to pass through this zone.
