BACK INTO IT
By now most of us are well and truly back into the swing of training and racing, and looking forward to a packed season, not to mention taking out Club Champs in May! Many of our members are looking forward to away races in the near future and of course there are a host of events in the local region – like the bcu Coffs Tri on 8 March (have you entered yet???).

But in the immediate future is our next CHTC club race on Sunday 1 February. As always, please be racked & ready by 6:15am, with the race briefing at 6:20am and race start at 6:30am.

An additional volunteer is needed for the swim duty. If you can volunteer on the swim this Sunday, please contact Mark Griffiths at markgriffiths1964@gmail.com. Or, if you are already on duty and are willing to swap to swim duty, please let Mark know ASAP. Volunteers need to arrive by 5:45am, and don’t forget to sign on to register that you have turned up!

SUNDAY RACE REPORT
You would think that the high temperatures and humidity would have slowed people down in the club race on Sunday. But the conditions just played into the hands of those who have kept up their training momentum over the Christmas break, with an incoming tide, virtually no wind resistance on the bike and a hot run helping to produce some PBs.

Nothing was getting in the way of Lyndal Green & Sarah Marsden who both came over the line in around 67 minutes, with Lyndal in the lead by just 25 seconds. Joe Kane gave us another killer run leg (under 20 minutes!!) to take the win, with Glen Price only a couple of minutes behind in 2nd place.

There were also incredibly slick times from Briana Rooney, Ian Howchin, Jess Dougherty, Kathy Ward and Rebecca Varney, all of whom have put in consistent training to produce these results. Well done.

SUNDAYS RACE
We are back to the normal race format this coming Sunday, early indications are for a fine morning, temperatures of 21 rising to 29 during the day a  gentle southerly breeze and a rising high tide which should provide an honest swim, no assistance on the final leg of the bike and a gentle push home on the run. As usual please allow yourself enough time to be racked & ready by 06:15 for a 06:30 start.

RACE REPORT
By Isaiah Koopmans
The great weather made for perfect conditions for the first race of 2015, in the club’s annual run swim run event. There wasn’t a huge turnout as people must still be getting over that Christmas hangover but the race saw 17 taking to the short course and 47 in the long course.

The race commenced with the women and short course competitors followed by the males starting five minutes behind. The conditions made for some good racing and some interesting changes in the positioning with the bike out of the equation.

Ed Brazier and Jess Dougherty had the fastest runs for the day while Isaiah Koopmans and Lyndal Green had the fastest swim times for the male and female divisions. Tim Martin led the short course from start to finish followed by Michael Ylinen and Jake Golding, Jayde Viles was the first female.

In the long course Isaiah Koopmans came out victorious in a time of 57.43, with Joe Kane and Ed Brazier taking out the minor placing’s. In the women’s Alison Howle was hard to beat finishing as first female and second overall in a time of 58.12, with Sarah Marsden and Lyndal Green taking the minor placing’s.

Congratulations to myself who managed to break the water trough after taking a fall. Thanks to Richard and Mark for your sympathy and sorry to everyone who had to run with sandy feet. Who’s got blisters?
