RACE #2
Coffs Harbour once again turned on awesome racing conditions for the second race of the season. This drew 82 people to the sprint distance course and 32 to the enticer distance. Daniel Stein and Jacinta Smithers were fastest male and female, with 0:57:55 and 1:11:31 respectively. Times at the front of the pack were almost exactly the same as the last race, a testimony to the consistency of athletes such as Joe Kane (1:02:51) and Marcus O’Brien (1:05:33). And the hard work of others is starting to pay dividends, with the likes of Hadley Black (1:12:54), Ian Howchin (1:17:53), Wendy Maley (1:26:01), Ken Crabb (1:26:07) and Todd Blewitt (1:19:30) all showing significant improvement.

NEW RACE START TIMES
The second race of the season has crept up on us already. Sunday 22 September has the season in full swing with several members in peak form for various events, both locally and out of the area. From this Sunday club races will start as close to 6.30 am as possible. This is due to the increasing amounts of traffic around the jetty area, with the markets and warmer weather bring more people out early in the morning. Please arrive early to rack your bike and register so the race can start on time. GAME ON
You really couldn’t have asked for better conditions for the first race of the season. 129 CHTC members descended on the Jetty to race in the near-perfect conditions over both distances. Many were racing for the first time, and there were plenty of familiar faces. Times were a little slower than previous seasons. This was mainly due to the slightly extended run course, which is now a very accurate 5km thanks to the efforts of Dave Moffatt. However Richard Pearson and Christine Lefeaux still managed to post some pretty slick times to take out fastest male and female. There were plenty of fast times, with 11 racers coming in under 70mins and 27 between 70 and 80 mins. Keep an eye on the likes of newcomers Reuben van Wyngaardt and Ian Swanborough. Something tells me we will see rapid improvement from them both. And it also won’t take long for all the work that Vicki Tillot, Judy Chesney and Isobella Bowes put in to see some solid results. Bets are on that the most interesting battles will be waged at the not-so-pointy end of the field. 6/9/2013 1 Comment ALMOST THEREIt’s September. The magpies are swooping, the bugs are invading your personal space and the morning chill is not quite so crisp. That can only mean one thing. It’s almost time for the season to begin! Lots of CHTC members are ready to go and the season looks like it’s going to be a good one.
