LAST RACE OF THE YEAR
22nd December will be our last race for the year. It will be “Teams” format where members with low number handicaps are teamed up with those with higher handicaps. Each team member completes a 450m swim, 10km ride and 2.9km run, tagging their team member at the end of each leg. It’s a great format to get to know people you may not usually have a chance to chat to. And you also get the opportunity to have a stretch, have a drink and cool down before embarking on the next leg of the race. Perfect for those of us who like to have more leisurely transitions.
Please be sure to get to arrive extra early, as the race is longer than normal and we need to get started earlier. Registrations will close at 6:15am.

This has come to light after a complaint at the last club race of competitors littering on the course. Gel wrappers were observed dropped on the course. While the culprit was not caught in the act in this instance, all members need to be aware that this is not acceptable behaviour at any time and can result in a penalty.
Specifically, dropping gel wrappers (or any piece of equipment) is a breach of rule 1.1 (m) Competitors must not discard any equipment on the course, except at the approved dedicated locations. The penalty is usually a 3 minute time penalty but can be a stop and go penalty or even a red card (disqualification), depending on the competitor’s interaction with the Technical Official.
CLUB RACE REPORT

Please spare a thought for the family and friends of Zac Young, who tragically lost his life on Saturday afternoon whilst body boarding at Campbell’s Beach.
Accordingly Sundays race was a Run-Ride-Run, with the swim leg replaced with one lap of the run course followed by the normal ride & run for the long and short options. (There will be a few people lobbying to make this a permanent feature, happily replacing their goggles for runners). On a more serious note, it was interesting to hear most people commenting on how much better they felt getting on the bike after a run rather than a swim. Interesting to see the effect when you use different muscles and the blood is where you need it when you hop on the bike.
