WEEKLY NEWSLETTER 23RD SEPTEMBER

FIRST RACE REPORT
We had the best of the day for first race of the season, which saw 69 members tackle the long course and 17 on the short course. While it might have been the same course as usual, the conditions tested us on every leg.

The water was warmer than anticipated, but slightly rough on the entry and exit. High tide made it a longer swim than usual. On the bike leg, speeds were either hindered or helped by the wind, depending on the direction you were travelling! The mild weather made the temperature for the run pleasant, with the headwind coming back down the Jetty the only hindrance.

Richard Pearson once again showed his dominance on the course, coming in 10 minutes before the next contender. Despite declaring that he was hurting badly, Simon Burgess was second over the line with an in-form Joe Kane in third. Also good to see Sam Burke stepping up to the long course and coming in fourth and in a very respectable 1:11:33. Expect to see this time come down as the season progresses.

WEEKLY  NEWSLETTER 16th SEPTEMBER

BRING IT ON!!!
Finally, the first race of the season is almost here. Seems like ages since we had a hit out on the club course. It will be interesting to see who has been working hard over the off-season and who is using this as a starting point.

Don’t forget that there are no registrations on the day and everyone must be registered by noon on Saturday.

The race will kick off at 6:30am sharp, so please racked and ready to go by 6:15am.

Anyone on duty should have received notification from DutyMan by now. If not, please go to the Duty Roster page on our website at http://www.coffstri.com/duty-roster.html.

See you at the Jetty on Sunday!

WEEKLY NEWSLETTER 9TH SEPTEMBER

2 WEEKS TO GO!!!
This is such a wonderful time of year (except for the magpies – they’re not wonderful at all). When the weather warms up and the days start to get longer, the new tri season lies ahead with all those potential PBs, course records and fantastic races. The anticipation of the new season is one of the best bits about triathlon.

So make sure you’re going to be a part of it by getting yourself registered well before our first race on 21st September. If you know anyone who wants to give it a go but not commit to the full season just yet, please ensure they know to go to our website at www.coffstri.com and complete the One Day Registration by 12 midday on the day before the race.

Please note that during the upcoming season there will be NO REGISTRATIONS ON THE DAY OF A CLUB RACE. ALL REGISTRATIONS, WHETHER THEY BE FOR CLUB MEMBERSHIP OR ONE DAY MEMBERSHIP, MUST BE DONE ONLINE 24 HOURS BEFORE A RACE. This process will streamline our race days, as with increasing numbers of participants it is imperative we get underway on time each event.

WEEKLY NEWSLETTER 2 SEPTEMBER 2014

FROM THE PRESIDENT
As you are all aware this weekend our Platinum Sponsors Village Sports are hosting the Coffs Harbour Running Festival. Village Sports are and have been a significant contributor to our club for many years.

If you have entered, I hope your training is going well and good luck in the event. If you are still thinking remember there is a distance for everyone and not only will your entry fee go towards worthwhile local charities, but you’ll be supporting those who support us. Also if you have a few hours free on Saturday morning from 10am to set up tents it would be much appreciated. Just look for Mick Maley at the showgrounds. He’ll be the cool, calm-looking bloke wandering around. A hand packing up on Sunday would also be appreciated.

Our first race is fast approaching on the 21st September and there are also a few other events either side of this organised by members of our club. Steel Beveridge and Lyn Fulton have the Blueberry Hills Duathlon on the 14th September and Leeann Lloyd is once again coordinating the Woopi Tri Festival on the 28th September.

That’s all. Trust everyone is fit and healthy. Your committee is very much looking forward to the season ahead. It’s going to be fun.

See you out there

Michael (Mick) Dougherty
