weekly newsletter 28 October 2015

Amazing turnout for the triple sprint race on Sunday. We had 64 competitiors complete the 3laps. A further 23 went around for one or two laps.  First over the line in the men's was Issiah Koopmans followed by Joel Harrigan and Jack Wilson. In the women's event it was Lyndaal Green, then Kate Marsden and Jan Rooney.
There were several new members racing , Daisy Fitzgerald(who may have chicked her Dad), Trevor Fidge and Oli Dance
Volunteer of the day was the Fabulous Bridget who may have bribed the selectors with a coffee run.Extra helpers Phil Viles and Michelle and Eddie also get a bit shout out

We have our novice day on November 8. The committee would like to encourage all members to bring along friends, work colleagues, family who would like to try a tri. non members still need to register online by midday on Saturday. There will be a bbq and perhaps even a finisher medal for newbies. Those of you who still wish to race hard can but you may wish to complete alongside a novice  to provide encouragement
Port Ironman 70.3  2015
Tina Benoit made an observation  on the day about out two fabulous club coaches Andrew Rowlings and Phil Benoit.
From many years of observing races and triathlon it can be assumed that one doesn't always Podium finish or even PB, these two men experience the ups and downs just like the athletes they coach, they always give it their best and "cop it on the chin" when it doesn't go their way..they are back up there again the next day.  I believe any Triathlon Club would envy us having 2 experienced, dedicated coaches that work together( for some club coaches it is not a smooth relationship)  for the benefit of the athletes they have committed to. So in this case, it is a very well deserved Podium finish for both these athletes and the cream on top?.. they have both qualified to the World's Triathlon Championships in 2016 on the Sunshine coast.

Congratulations Coffs Harbour Triathlon Club on taking out 3rd Place in the TriClub Podium at IRONMAN 70.3 Port Macquarie over the weekend!

Great work by all your athletes to take out this title at IRONMAN 70.3 Port Macquarie and accumulate lots of points towards your Clubs end of season WORLD TriClub Ranking!

Woopi Triathlon Festival
Leeann Lloyd has finally handed over the prestigious position as race director of Woopi Triathlon Festival. The who's who of Triathlon gathered at Boambee East to eagerly await the announcement of Leeann's replacement after 11 years in the top job... and the winner was... Michael McFarlane.
Thanks Leeann, the Committee and the volunteers; for all your work over the past 11 years.  You have done an amazing job.    Congratulations Michael and all the best for the next 11 years.

COFFSSAC
Phil would also like to hear from a member who would like to be the club representative on COFFSSAC(sports advisory council). it is a once a month meeting.
