SUNDAYS RACE
We are back to the normal race format this coming Sunday, early indications are for a fine morning, temperatures of 21 rising to 29 during the day a  gentle southerly breeze and a rising high tide which should provide an honest swim, no assistance on the final leg of the bike and a gentle push home on the run. As usual please allow yourself enough time to be racked & ready by 06:15 for a 06:30 start.
PUB TO PUB RACE REPORT
Steel Beveridge
WRATS Pub to Pub, from the Golden Dog, Glenreagh, to the Amble Inn, Corindi. 29.5 kms.
11th January, 2015.

Travis Shields may have finished fifth behind the young speedsters in the 5.25 kms Sawtell Fun Run on New Year’s Day but he was taking no prisoners on his way to a win in the WRATS Pub to Pub 29.5kms on Sunday. He crossed the finish well clear of his nearest male competitor, Konrad Legge , but only two minutes clear of the first lady, Leah Fitzgerald who made it two wins from two starts over the testing course from the Golden Dog to the Amble Inn. Although her time was not quite as quick as last year’s it further confirms her ranking as the second fastest woman to run the event. Only Melissa Bulloch has run faster.

Two runners who are fast becoming regulars on this course, Ed Brazier and Rodney Koopmans, filled third and fourth for the men while two ladies who can claim more finishes than most others, Tina Thompson and Anne Grundy filled second and third for the women.

It was pleasing for the Woolgoolga Running & Triathlon Society (WRATS) to see some new runners complete the distance as well as regular participants like  Grant Roder, Tina Benoit, Jenni Williams and Janie Mahoney. However the award for the biggest improvement was secured by Judy Chesney who knocked almost 49 minutes off her time from last year. As was the case last year the ladies  outnumbered the gentlemen.

It was also pleasing to see the Ylinen family put together a relay team to cover the course in 2.47.53.

The next WRATS event will be the Hiawatha Half-Ironman Triathlon in the Wooli-Minnie Water area on Sunday 8th February with registrations taken at the Wooli Hotel-Motel by 6.30am. Intending participants are requested to contact Steel Beveridge or Lyn Fulton beforehand on 66562735 or email steellyn@gmail.com to assist with catering.

RESULTS (MALE) : Travis Shields 2.10.15, 1; Konrad Legge 2.22.52, 2; Ed Brazier 2.25.29, 3; Rodney Koopmans 2.32.25, 4; Peter Mitchell 2.53.49, 5; Lee Varney 4.27.30, 6; Grant Roder 4.38.42, 7; Steel Beveridge 5.08.03, 8. WISE WORDS
"Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: "I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it."
