8/4/2015 0 Comments Weekly newsletter 7 april 2015RACING IN THE LIGHT! How good will it be to start the race in the daylight? No torch for transition set up and hopefully not swimming into the rising sun. We only have 3 more races left for the season (not including the most important race – Club Champs!), with only 2 more in the standard distances of Sprint & Enticer. Our final race on 3rd May will be a long course to get us all ready to go the distance at Club Champs. So if you’re looking to set a PB for the season, you only have 2 more opportunities to do so! Unfortunately the weather outlook for Sunday is not looking quite as perfect as we are used to. A cool change is predicted to come through this week and morning temperatures might dip a little during the week, but they should increase slightly by Sunday. An overnight low of 16 degrees will turn into a beautiful 25 degrees. Pretty good triathlon weather! The winds should be light, the tide will be on its way out and the sea temperature is still a lovely 23 – 25 degrees! Oooh….borderline no-wetsuit swim! So many of our members are in the peak of their form for the season, with many having recently completed their goal races and still in good form or just about to peak for their goal races. Sunday’s results will be interesting to see who has gained fitness over the season. This is especially evident at the not so pointy end where there have been some incredible fitness gains over the past few months.
Please don’t forget that the Enticer race will now commence approximately one minute after the last handicapper commences. So that is about 31 minutes after the scratch starters. As usual, everyone must activate their timing chip by 6.20 am no matter what distance you are competing in. Good luck and see you out there! CLUB CHAMPS 2015 We have 140 volunteers, supporters and competitors coming down for this year’s Club Champs in Forster. A REQUEST Jan Gallatly has a request for our members. Can anyone help her out? Jan joined us as a visitor for our duathlon on 4th January this year. She will be in town again this week to visit family and would like to join our sprint triathlon this weekend. Can anyone lend Jan a road bike, preferably a small frame, whether with cleats or without? She also needs a helmet for the morning. I’m sure one of our generous members will be able to give her a hand. If you can help Jan, please contact her at [email protected]. RUN THE RUT We have featured Skyrunning in this newsletter in previous editions. But for those of you who don’t know, Skyrunning is an extreme sport of mountain running above 2,000 metres (6,600 ft) where the incline exceeds 30% and the climbing difficulty does not exceed II° grade. Yep, not for the faint hearted. The annual Run the Rut Mountain Runs are on again in September this year at the Big Sky Resort in Montana, USA. There are 50km, 25km, 11km or Lone Peak Vertical Kilometre events to choose from. Perhaps a new overseas challenge for the more adventurous runners among us? You can check out the race details at http://runtherut.com/. For video previews of the race, have a look at THIS and THIS. Anyone for Edinburgh Street? Bruxner? ONES FOR THE CALENDAR
