ENTICER START
After listening to feedback from last week’s later Enticer start, the committee has decided to keep this in place for the rest of the season.

There were some concerns about having our younger members out on the road later and we will continue to monitor this issue. Note that we have two “normal distance” races left where the Enticer will start approximate one minute after the last handicapper commences. Our last club race on 3rd May will be a long course (1/30/7.5) which will act as a tune up for the club champs. The Enticer start time will be confirmed in the Newsletter prior to the race.

Please be aware everyone must activate their timing chip by 6.20 am no matter what distance you are competing in.
NORTH COAST ACADEMY OF SPORT
Coffs Harbour Triathlon Club has been advised of a new junior based program run through the North Coast Academy of Sport. The eligible criteria is as below:

  • Athletes must reside on the North Coast (Tweed Heads to Laurieton and west to the foothills of the Great Dividing Range);
  • Be aged or turning 13 – 19 years old this year;
  • Be a member or willing to join a triathlon club upon selection;
  • Demonstrate that you currently are competing or intend to compete in triathlon events;
  • Have or be willing to obtain a road bike (preferred) or mountain bike with an Australian Standards approved helmet, running shoes, water bottle and swim gear;
  • Be able to commit to all planned NCAS program events.

As we are aware, our club currently runs junior programs via our own Club Coaches Phil Benoit and Andrew Rowlings.  We strongly recommend that any junior wishing to apply should contact either Phil at benoitpt@bigpond.net.au or Andrew at coffs_coach@bigpond.com for further information and the relevant forms.

SAM BURKE
We all know what a talented athlete last year’s Junior Scholarship winner Sam Burke is. However he also writes a beautiful letter. Please see attached letter from Sam to the Coffs Tri Club Committee.

The Committee would also like to add that they, along with Ventoux Cycles, have decided to waive any additional charges for his bike as a result of Sam’s dedication to training and the club.

Sam, we love watching you develop as an athlete and can’t wait to see what is ahead of you. Well done on both your triathlon achievements and your lovely letter-writing skills!
