30/5/2015 0 Comments weekly newsletter 2nd june 2015GREAT NIGHT – ADIOS 2014/15 SEASON Thanks to the 100+ members who attended the AGM & Presentation evening last Friday. It was a fitting finale for the year, with lots of laughs and memories of the 2014/15 season. After the business of the AGM was over, we were treated to great food, great company and lots of laughs with our comedy MCs Vicki & Griffo. Anne Grundy and Phil Benoit were inducted as life members of the club. Congratulations to you both, it was well-deserved. Although it was hard to prise Phil away from the microphone to give him the award! (Just kidding Phil – it was a great motivational speech for both junior and senior club members). The usual awards were given out for notable members of the season. Fastest male was Richard Pearson and fastest female was Lyndal Green. Both great examples of hard work, consistency and overall talent. Well done to you both.
Sam Burke was given the award of Junior of the Year. It was a close competition and no doubt the other juniors will be “hungry” for it next year after Phil’s rousing speech! Most improved went to Marg Roberts, which made her the most awarded triathlete in her household until husband Pete Roberts was given the prize for the most points! Game on now guys? Look out for some hot competition between those two over the next season! Club Member of the Year was awarded to Vicki Tillott as a thank you for her hard work on the committee, dedication to the club and encouragement of members of all levels. She said she didn’t feel worthy, but the votes said differently! Thanks Vicki. The committee will miss you! As for the Cliffy’s, well you just had to be there to get the full list! And in case you missed out on Griffo’s superb triathlon jokes, here’s a sample: Q: How do you know that a triathlete is at a party???? A: They'll tell you. Q: How many Ironman triathletes does it take to change a light globe? A: One to hold the light globe, and the rest of the world revolves around them. Comedy gold Griffo, comedy gold. And finally, an enormous thanks and well done to Karen Dance and Kristy Ylinen for putting the whole event together. Everything was just superb – the venue, the organisation, the food, THE BOXES!!! Glad that you’re both on board again for next year. And that brings our 2014/15 season to a close folks. It’s been another sensational year for Coffs Harbour Triathlon Club, with another Club Champs win and so many milestones and achievements for so many members. Rest easy in the off-season and we will see you again in September! YOUR NEW COMMITTEE A massive thank you to our outgoing committee members. Thanks for all your hard work over the past season. Particular thanks go to Michael Dougherty who has resigned as President after two years of hard work and dedication. I’m sure your family will be pleased to see you again Mick! A big thank you and congratulations to our new committee members who will no doubt be working hard for the Club over the next year. Mark Griffiths is your new club President and he comes with a wealth of experience in triathlon and was also a hard-working and dedicated committee member for the past couple of years. Thanks for stepping up to the role of President, Mark. We look forward to seeing the club grow under your stewardship. The full list of all committee members and their contact details is attached. Thanks for taking on the job of committee members. Looking forward to a fantastic season in 2015/16. COFFS RUNNING FESTIVAL ENTRIES ARE OPEN Who are we kidding? Rest in the off-season?
