SUNDAY RACE REPORT
A warm breeze greeted competitors at the Jetty on Sundays' race. Besides the breeze, conditions were fabulous.  The good conditions brought a huge field of 122 competitors! Great to see so many new members. The times recorded is testament to the hard training regimes and commitment by members. No major incidents were reported.

Eszter Hortobagyi was the first across the line followed by Iliane Beuke in the ladies. Newcomer, Chris Stevens and Michael Singleton were first and second over the line in the men.
First across the line in the short course was Tara Everson and Ky Sullivan. Phil Benoit came closest to handicap with a time of 1:11:51.

Good to see so many juniors racing over both the short and long course.

Coming back from injury, Phil Viles showed tenacity in the ride and run to return to his pre operation time. Joanne Fergusson is improving every race, always challenging her times. Great to see Peter Wood on course in his full colour, enthusiasim and charm. Angus Roberts showed determination and consistent improvement with his time. Training is paying dividends.

A reminder to parents escorting children on the ride that they must follow directly behind and wear a fluorescent vest.

A big thanks to all those members who tried to volunteer for duty before the race rather than do the race themselves. After seeing the duty roster was not filled, I had no less than 5 people put their hands up to do duty on the morning. Fortunately, our reserve list was called upon and the roster was filled on Saturday. This is a timely reminder for members who have not yet volunteered for duty, that there are gaping holes in duty roster for the next few months. If members don't self allocate by the end of this week, duties WILL be allocated for them and it will be up to them to organise swaps if the dates do not suit. Club membership requires ALL members to do at least one duty a season.

BCU COFFS TRI
Mick Maley and the team at Village Sports would like to thank all those members who have volunteered their time to help out at the BCU Tri on the Saturday or Sunday events.  Many of you have put your hands up to do both duties on Saturday. The volunteer list is now full, but I'm sure Mick will be happy to hear from you if you can spare the time (mick@villagesoports.com.au).

This week is the last chance to make your order this season.

Coffs Harbour Triathlon Club policy
Junior’s 13 and 14 years of age.
Coffs Harbour Triathlon Club complies with Triathlon Australia Race Rules.  Those rules stipulate that juniors must be 13 years of age before they are allowed to complete our short course club race (350m swim / 10km ride / 2.5km run) and  14 years of age before they are allowed to complete the long course (750m swim / 20km ride / 5km run).

Coffs Harbour Triathlon Club encourages juniors to complete in our club races.  The bike leg is conducted on open roads around the Jetty, and the north eastern sides of Coffs Harbour CBD.  Harbourside markets and Car-boot markets elevate the pedestrian and vehicular congestion at the Jetty on Sunday mornings, additionally Hogbin Drive is a key arterial road that comprises part of the bike leg.

To mitigate the risk of juniors colliding with pedestrians and/or vehicles: juniors under the age of 15 must nominate a competent adult to ride with them during the bike leg.  The primary role of the adult is to ensure the safety of the junior.  The adult must wear a high visibility vest,  ride behind the junior, and is not permitted to assist or propel the junior.

Regular Metafit workouts will make you fitter, stronger and leaner and will also take your energy levels through the roof. But if all that’s not enough to encourage you to give it a go, here are a few more reasons....
  1. It Only Takes 25 Minutes - Who has time to go to the gym for two hours these days? One of the biggest excuses I hear for not exercising is time. But Metafit is perfect for people with a busy schedule and if you can find 25 minutes in your day, you’ll be burning fat for fun in no time. Metafit involves short bursts of intense exercise, followed by recovery periods of low intensity activity or rest. Do Metafit 2-3 times a week and see ya later, body fat!
  2. You’ll Be Burning Fat For Hours After You’ve Finished Training. Unlike low intensity cardio such as jogging, Metafit will have you burning calories for hours and hours after you have finished your workout. We call this the afterburn effect. During this time your metabolic rate is boosted, so your body continues to burn more calories and more fat. The more intense the workout, the greater the effects will be, so you should always aim to push yourself as hard as you can.
  3. Metafit Can Be Tailored To Your Fitness Levels. Metafit workouts can be tailored to your fitness levels, so whether you’re 20 years old or 50, a solid Metafit session is all relative to your personal level of fitness. Our qualified coaches can adapt the exercises to suit you. The aim is to get your heart rate up to near maximal levels during the intense sets, before recovering during the rest periods.
  4. You’ll Feel Like An Absolute Winner Afterwards. Every Metafit session should be tough, but it’s all over in around 25 minutes and you will feel like an absolute winner after each session. And when your body fat starts to melt away and you become fitter, stronger and leaner, it will all be worth it.
