This Sunday’s race is retro day. Whether it’s your old steel frame bike, a smashing pair of budgie smugglers, leg warmers, head bands, a well-cultivated moustache or your best fluoro, give it an outing at the club race this Sunday. There are prizes to be had for the best outfits! See the picture below for details. Start time is as usual – racked and registered by 6:15am, race briefing at 6:20am and race start at 6:30am. The BOM is predicting a very hot day with a minimum of 21 degrees and getting up to 34, so please ensure you bring plenty of fluids and drink regularly before, during and after the race. High tide is 9:31am, so once again we have the incoming tide. See you on the course! JUNIORS AWAY RACE Club Coaches Andrew Rowlings and Phil Benoit so far have 7 juniors interested in doing the away race in Robina on 18th January. Any others who may be interested, please contact Andrew on 0434 718 274 or email [email protected] or Phil on [email protected] ASAP so that they can finalise accommodation & costings. The main objective of the weekend is to get the juniors ready for the All Schools competition a little later in the year, and to become accustomed to an away race and the little things that can assist in making it a success. Final details & costings will be given to juniors & their parents at a brief meeting at 6am prior to the club race on 7th December. CHRISTMAS PARTY The most important date on your Christmas social calendar is our annual Christmas Party. This year it will be held at Shearwater Restaurant on Harbour Drive, Coffs Harbour from 4pm on 7th December and we would love everyone to come along. For $25 you get food, friends, music and a beautiful venue. It’s also a great opportunity to brainstorm our strategy for taking out Club of the Year at 2015 Club Championships! Your official invitation is attached with all the details. Please RSVP by 1st December to Karen Dance at [email protected]. Come celebrate the year with your fellow triathletes, and enjoy some nibbles & a few drinks with the best and friendliest Tri Club in the business! CYCLIST BEWARE Please be careful when riding along the new cycleway between Sapphire and Woolgoolga. Along the section between Sapphire and Moonee adjacent to the cycle lane, some careless person has driven over and broken off the white guide posts leaving a metal bar exposed. There are at least a dozen of these. Some of these are a few inches high and could result in a flat tyre or nasty fall. The picture below shows you what to look for. RMS have been notified so hopefully all will be fixed soon. GUILTY Every sport has its own catch-phrases, jargon & one-upmanship. Many triathletes are competitive, “A-type”, driven personalities, some are borderline OCD, data-obsessed, gadget freaks. All of us are guilty of this in some way. Check out this video from Trisports.com http://www.trisports.com/triathletes-say-what.html. How may can you tick off? And when you’ve looked at that, try this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Do53TQ6OVJ4. CHTC CLASSIFIEDS Mark Sweetman is selling a Teschner tri bike. It has Du ace components, 9 speed and Shimano pedals. It is about size 54 medium. The bike has not used for 8 years but has been stored in a garage. It was state of the art built for its time (around mid-2000 and would suit someone starting out. Mark is asking $500. A photo of the bike is below. If you’re interested please phone Mark Sweetman on 0404 075 377 for further information. ONES FOR THE CALENDAR
