The weather gods are certainly smiling on us with sensational conditions this morning. Another strong field of 71 including some new members, welcome to you, and some holiday makers, fantastic that you could join us today. Isaiah Koopmans will be looking to see where he can save 2 seconds to go under the 1 hr mark, either way, he did what he had to do again. The newly announced ambassador of the Mooney Tavern, Matt Moffat, snuck in for 2nd with Pat Brennan 17 secs adrift in 3rd. The Bellingen bean counters last 100mtr surge has the Matman pondering tactics for the next race, Mick Singleton had a ripper of a race, Mick Dougherty had his customary quick swim. Ed Brazier and Charles Stockton were both strong, and Mark Griffiths worked harder today than on any landscape project he is doing. Good to see Craig Busby back, while Leon Petrohelos and Steve Thompson had a ding dong battle. Glen Barnett back had a solid run split , Stu Janes and Tony Cross had an epic battle. Good performances from Craig Allen, Pete Birch, Ian Swanbourough, who's run splits continue to improve, Andrew Thomson had his first race for the year. In the ladies, the quiet achiever, Shannon O'Hara had a fantastic race putting together 3 consistent legs to pip Mel Silvester with Lauren Hodge taking 3rd spot. Lauren's performance all the more special as she has slowly overcomes the self confidence barrier, well done Loz, might well be the first podium in the family 😜 Hayley Fuller had a great race taking 2mins off her best time, Emma Sutton proved her long legs are far superior than the other long legs of the club ( mmm, that would be Cliff😂) Alira Bayndrian continues to be ultra consistent, Marg Roberts was looking strong on the run leg and Karen Chia is showing the benefits of doing run squad. Wonderful to see Deb Tennant back amongst it and looked the goods, and you couldn't wipe the smile off Tracy Singleton who took a whopping 10mins off from her last race in Ballina, well done Tracy. Welcome to the club Skye Ravescroft , while Susanne, Donna, Jennifer,Sarvi, and Jo all toughed it out with exceptional performances. Well done everyone in the short course. Lachy Marle showed race one was no fluke with his strong run leg 2 mins quicker than next best. Sheldon Koopmans issued a challenge to dad Rod and did enough to hold him off by 1 second. Jack McLaughlin had a great run leg, and mum Kerry Ann excelled on her first race of the season, while Elizabeth Arif also kick started her season. Big thanks to all the volunteers for turning up at 5.30am, always hard when it's the start of daylight saving. Thank you Kylie Marle for your photographic skills today. Another great club race with plenty of positive encouragement and banter Our next race on the 21st is the novice event, so if any of your friends or family are keen to have a go, bring them along. It will also be a BBQ and muesli breakfast, so make sure you don't miss this one. The day will be the normal sprint and enticer events. Just a reminder about uniforms, head to the website to select your style and size. Orders close October 22, delivery early December. Once again, it disappoints me to have to broach the subject about bike safety! Given the enormous amount of work that goes into securing all the right licenses and approvals required to stage the season, we need you to follow rules, and while that is done on nearly every occasion, it only take 1 slip up to place the season in jeopardy. One of the more important rules is you do NOT pass a fellow cyclist on the inside. As an experienced club member, the culprit should know better. With lots of new and inexperienced members racing, they look to seasoned members to lead the way. Please consider all the other club members, past and present before you decide to do the wrong thing. In closing, we welcome The Moonee Tavern as a first time sponsor of the club, it's a fantastic premises for young families, so check it out, and their huge meals . Onwards and upwards PT
