With thanks to our race day sponsor The Chicken Butchery - Coffs Central
WOW, what a turn out for our first race of the season. 80 took to the flat jetty waters , some testing out their off season training, some easing their way back into it. Massive shout out to our new members and one day racers, we hope you had a great morning. Special mention to Kaitlan for doing her 1st ever club tri and putting in a courageous effort. Race One of the season and we couldn’t have asked for better conditions, ideal in every sense of the word. Thank you to everyone for adhering to the new non aero bar rules. There were a number of minor incidents on the bike leg, well done to those involved in keeping a cool and calm head. As always, please ride like they can’t see you. The Enticer was a rather exciting and very close race. Tom Ylinen did just enough to keep a fast finishing Lachie Marle in 2nd, while Jack McLaughlin snuck in for 3rd Impressive performance from Teia Scotford, and huge effort from new mum Roxy Jacob. In the long course, 19 girls lined up and picking up where she left off, Shannon O’Hara was exceptional in holding off Mel Sylvester with Kate Marsden’s strong bike training getting her into 3rd. Jan Rooney was 5th quickest on the run, smashing a certain short someone by 9 sec. Alina Hill would be stoked with her effort. Mel Shaw’s amazing mental strength saw her racing under duress, and welcome back Holly Newton. Alira Bayndrian battled a flat tyre but pressed on and Susanna O’Sullivan was consistent as always. No matter event she is training for, our ‘Kona bound Queen’ Jen Williams always finds the time to do a club race.🙌🙌 Isaiah Koopmans looked damn fine out on course to again break the 1hr mark. A month off hasn’t slowed Mick Ylinen down at all and running into 3rd spot was Matty Moffat. Exceptional effort, and a possible pb from Shaun Bayndrian, just pipping his IM training buddy Chris Hodge . 100 clubber, Mark Garner was solid . Great performance from first timers Adam Cox and Deon Kirstein. Pete Robbo did well, Brad Henry eased his way back in. Race One all done n dusted . Well done to all. —————————————-- Big thanks today to all our volunteers. Mia and Hugo were outstanding on the drink station.
