John Daffy Memorial Long Course - Sunday 24 February 2019

In the end, Mother Nature claimed a hollow victory.

The strong winds making it to dangerous to be riding on the open roads and the surging swells to unpredictable for a safe swim.

We may well run this long course event in late April, this will be confirmed later.

Today’s John Daffy event was restricted to a run only with 45 registered and 6 unregistered tackling a distance of their choice.

Some very impressive leg speed was spotted as most of us took the chance to stride out in prep for bcu next week.

Great to see Jan Rooney back running strongly as was Kate Marsden. Shaun Lawer gets stronger with each run

Melissa Shaw looked composed and ready for next week, Vick Tillot is starting to build some consistency, Bec Varney showing some good form.

Very visible to seeMrs Williams and Mrs Maley gas bagging around on their three laps, great to see.

Awesome effort from everyone, well done
Huge thanks to all the volunteers that showed up and set up. Your efforts more appreciative given the the false start that eventuated.
Huge thanks to our timer, Mick Booth, he is always unfazed and adapts to the changes and finds a way of getting us out there 👋👋

We took the liberty to postpone Reece Edwards to a later date, hopefully we can get him when he returns from doing the marathon in Japan in early March.

Thanks to our sponsors ,Colourworks Australia and Duncan Marchant from CCHC. We will hold over their generous prizes to a later date.

Thanks again to Bobby Williams , for doing the BBQ, and his very late partner in crime Mick.

Thanks to everyone that have volunteered for next weekend.

Mick Jenny McFarlane is compiling the list of duties .

Here’s hoping this weather does subside and makes way for some great racing conditions next weekend.
Enjoy your Sunday.
