Our final race was worth the wait to round out what's been a great season. The support from our amazing sponsors Mel and Julez at Beachbodies Health Club has been fantastic all season and today was no exception with prize giveaways, training and support sessions, hoodies and much more. Thank you! And to Coffs Ex Services – It's My Club, thank you for your continued support. Thanks too to the Hotel Group – Sawtell, Toormina and Moonee Beach Hotels for the $25 vouchers this season that have been provided at every race! And to the Fishermans Co-op the $50 vouchers have been very well received and appreciated.
33 members and visitors turned out in what were ideal racing conditions despite some overnight light rain. Our Enticer race was taken out by Maria Wood in 44:04 followed by Ian Nash (so great to see Nashy back racing!) in 45:09 and Claire Fairweather rounding out the podium in 47:34. Susan Tempone and Tina Benoit completed the swim/run Aquathon in close times. For the Sprint event Shaun Bayndrian in the men's clocked the fastest swim and run of the day and first across the line in 1:07:00 followed by Michael Singleton in 1:11:33 and Adam Cox hitting the podium in third with a solid bike in 1:13:53. In our women's category, Mel Silvester took out the fastest female and second overall in 1:11:29 with a solid bike leg, followed by Carragh Gordon, the fastest running female in 1:15:40 and the ever improving Rainee Herron a close third in 1:15:44. Floating not far behind were a cluster headed by Rachel Cleary, Mark Kirstein and Mark Garner. There were some very good bike times across all Sprint athletes. Thanks to everyone that put their hand up this season to volunteer and to our crew today, ably led by Savannah Bartlett who set up an impeccable start line and was keeping an eye on things and helping out all over the place. Volunteer of the week goes to Krystal Silvester who backed again after the last race to assist on the bike leg. Full results can be found on the web site at http://www.coffstri.com/results.html. For those using Strava check out this race report that can also be found there. To those racing at Port Ironman this weekend - wishing you all the very best for all the hard training you have been getting done! And for those of us venturing to Byron for the Sprint and Olympic on 11 May have a good time up there and race well. And a reminder that if you’re thinking about how to close out the season sign up for NSW Tri Club Champs on 25 May in Forster with subsidised accommodation and post race afternoon feed etc at the Forster Village. This is a great club weekend away, get more info and book your spot here. Following the Club Champs we have our Club Presentation and Annual General Meeting at the King Tide Brewery on Sunday 2 June at 12 noon. Want to make a contribution to the running of the Club? Then come along to the AGM, consider picking up a role and make a difference. There's lots of awards and giveaways at the Presentation including Club Champion, Club Person of the Year Most Improved and more. Tickets at $10 per head, including light food options, will be available through Sticky Tickets and the link will be posted soon on the website and socials. So as we come to a close for the 2023-24 race season, a big thanks for participating, to everyone that volunteered and to the Committee that supported all of the activities of the Tri Club. Have a happy off-season and see you next time round in 24-25! Peter Birch Race Director
