Despite our best intentions, we didn't quite get the weather prediction right, but it didn't stop 76 super racers to get amongst the action. Congratulations to those that competed today for the 1st time, we hope you enjoyed your first tilt at Triathlon, and we hope there are many more to come for you. Great to see Tara Everson back in action with another podium finish. Sheldon Koopmans beat everyone out of the water and finished in 2nd place, and Jack McLaughlin was consistent in claiming 3rd place. Special mention must go to Jane Cameron, Tia Scotford, Will McCormack, Amanda Tutty, Melissa Shaw , Fiona McPherson, Hanna Legge and Corey Warn on their first ever triathlon. Well done to all of you, some really impressive times in there as first timers, with a few more events, you guys will be looking at podiums as well. No surprise to see Isaiah Koopmans do it easy in the long course, the rain not hampering him on the bike leg. Chris Hodge earned himself his first podium with a 2nd, and is doing all the right things as he sets his sights on Hervey Bay claiming the 2nd best bike time and just holding off a fast finishing Mark Garner for 3rd place, MG clearly stole some ones chocolate, he ran the 2nd fastest run leg of the day. Joe Wilbur will never see another 5 min wave again, he smoked it, and we look forward to seeing him in the later waves.Bailey Offord had an outstanding race, Ed Brazier was slick on the run. Ian Ferguson had his first club race in 18mths, and Charles Stockton was solid throughout. Great to see the flying Truckee back in action and Shaun Lawer is getting back to some Pyrenees form. Awesome first time for Gwynne Benyon, and good to see Glenn Barnett up and about. Big shout out to John Benyon for his first club race, and Jyii Mann practiced some tyre changing skills and gamely battled on. Big Brad Henry jumped straight off the plane from Fiji and into his first long course for the year to put in a tremendous race, Tony Cross had 3 consistent legs, Pete Roberts continues to improve and good to see Cliffy injury free and racing. Adam Cross continues to show great improvement, trimming another 2mins.Huge effort from John Widdowson who ripped in and had a really good crack. The ladies event saw Sarah Keenan continue her good form from the aged champs with a terrific first place and 4th overall. Shannon O'Hara raced well for 2nd , just edging out Kate Marsden for 3rd. Hadley Black got a chance to wash the red dust off, having a ding dong battle with Kylie Marle who will tonight show Lachy the run leg. Lyndal Benyon had a great first up club race, and good to see Pim Heaney back in action. Deb Willoughby has her eyes on HB and used today to get some much needed sea salt, while Hayley Fuller continues to improve her times. Welcome to Janine Watson who raced well, as did Abbie Parks and Donna Edwards. Marg Roberts also has HB to aim for and raced accordingly. Great results for Caron Mackie, Wendy Maley and Carla Croaker. Well done to everyone today that raced. In particular, thank you for taking on board our bike safety messages, which will continue. If you are not sure about some of the rules, please don't hesitate to ask, we do have plenty of experience in the club that can assist A huge thank you to Bob Williams and Mick Maley for the BBQ duties today, thank you gentleman. A very special mention to Sarvi Thompson for organising the muesli and Blueberries for breakfast. I am led to believe she hand picked the berries just for us, however, there was no evidence of dirty fingernails...💅🏾💅🏾 To all the volunteers today, thank you so much for turning up ready to go at 5:30am, John Murray, well he was there at 5, thanks mate. And finally to Jan Rooney and Craig Cusack who both gave up their Sunday morning and offered to help out, despite battling injury, thank you . JR did the photos again today, and Craig was a Jack of all trades. Our next race is Sunday 4th November, it's our triple sprint. A reminder, please order your uniform tonight if you want one.
