Race 6 and thankyou to Coffs Coast Health Club Toormina and C.ex Group for their continued support of our club.
Also a big thanks to Col and Louise Williams from Coffs Coast Nutrition for their supply of the protein rich chocolate milk for a post race recovery. Today was our first official day of Woolworths supplying us with fresh fruit. NOW Following on from her fantastic debut on the mic this morning, Alira Jade has also provided today’s race report. ............./.............../............. What a cracking day for club members to get out and enjoy the first long course race of the season. The water temp was amazing, although I’m sure we will be wishing for cooler water temperatures as we get further into summer. Nice work from our volunteers, no doubt up earlier than usual and our TA officials, Ian Nash, Lee Varney and Ellie Luhr for assisting with the closed transition long course race. Thanks to all our members for getting there early so that transition could close and our race could start on time. In the short course today, Isaiah Koopmans took out first spot in 30.12, followed by Ben Burridge in 31.18 and Tom Ylinen in 34.32. Shout out to Mick Booth heading out in the short course after a long break from racing. In the loooong course. Matt Moffat took out first place in a 1.37 with the fastest swim of the day by about 2minutes (put the flippers away Matty). Pat Brennan took second step on the podium and grabbed a pack of Tim Tams with a 1:39 and the fastest bike leg of the day (47.45) and Shaun Bayndrian was around to have his photo taken today with 3rd spot in 1.41 and the second fastest run of the day with a 31.26. New club member Ben Rose is absolutely smashing it, with the fastest run leg of the day at 30.33, averaging 4.04 pace for the 7.5 kms. Mark Garner backed up from Hervey Bay over the weekend, testing out the new club socks in his race today. Smiles awards for the guys providing encouragement and smiles along the course goes out to Phil Benoit, Leon Petrohelos, Shaun Lawer, Chris Hamilton, Adam Cox, Loyd Mason, Chris Hodge and Ian Nash, Brad Henry. In the ladies race Shannon Ohara and Mel Sylvester continue to have a cracking competition at the top, with Shannon taking out first place today in 1:42, and third out of the water overall today. Mel Sylvester wasn’t far behind in 1.45 and Kate Marsden doesn’t look like she’s even been on holidays, surely returning to give these ladies a run for their money in future races with a strong 1.49 third place finish. Emma packer only 30 seconds behind third place had a great race coming out 6th overall in the swim, with Alina Hill getting faster and faster over the longer distance. Some close finishes in the ladies with Isobella Bowes just holding out Caron Mackie with Katrina McFarlane hot on their heels. Smiles awards for the ladies to Amy Bennett, Alice Williams, Elizabeth Brazier, Tina Benoit and the effervescent Jennifer Williams. Kudos to everyone who raced today. It is definitely a special club with great members and fantastic supporters. Don’t forget: Coffs Tri Club Christmas Party. Sunday 15th December starting at 3pm. Courtesy bus leaving the Yacht Club at 2:30 and dropping back after. Tickets via the stickytickets. Club Champs coming up in Forster In March 2020. Get on the list by contacting Kristy Ylinen. —————/————-/————- Thanks to Lee Varney who was out on the bike leg keeping an eye on everyone and offering a few tips on the way. What he did witness was 25% of our members still in aero position when they weren’t meant to be. I know we all get in the zone, but just be extra mindful as it’s your safety we are concerned about. Also, please stay as far left as possible to allow faster riders to overtake you. If you are looking to overtake, just give your fellow member a nice happy shout out that your about to go past , we are all in this together . ————/—————/———- With Xmas just 4 weeks away, Rebel is a great place to splash out. They have a huge sale starting tomorrow . Nominate our club, and 10% of your total goes towards our club as a credit. This enables us to purchase goodies for you to win on race day, so, everyone is a winner. —————/———-/———- Teams event Dec 15 closed out the first half of the season.
