Our Teams race wouldn’t happen without a bit of pre-race planning by Pete Roberts. Thank you for all you do Pete and sorting out the Teams and from the close results made for some competitive racing. With a little bit of swell and a clear swim we all negotiated the course without colliding around the buoy and back on shore juggled the chip swap with a good bit of banter. It was Team Mark Kirstein and Garry Ward laying out a strong swim start with a good lead after the first bike leg. Team Titan Barry and Ian Fergusson though made up some ground on the back end of the bike and headed out on the run course being the ones to catch. In the final run leg they were closely followed by Team Adam Cox and Jo Fergusson and then a string of other Teams with Ben Rose showing strong run form out on the jetty with Matt Moffatt, Julie Whitton, Alina Hill and Andrea Burth battling it out. With the opportunity to stretch the legs there were some fast times across the board and some close finishers through the field of 17 Teams with only 8 minutes separating the first 14. In the end it was Team Titan Barry and Ian Fergusson taking the finish line honours with a 1:17:02 while Team Mark Kirstein and Garry Ward came in second at 1:18:52 with third place going to Team Smiley, Adam Cox and Jo Fergusson in 1:19:06. Special mentions go to Team Allira Bayndrian and Alina Hill who were in good form again this year coming home in 5th place after shaking off a bit of much needed argy bargy in the change over. Well done to all those members doing the untimed option too and of course for the organisation in transition our Volunteer of the Week goes to our starter Mark Garner who ably put us all in the right place at the right time – thanks MG! Our next event is on 5 February 2023 and that will be followed by North Coast Series event at Trial Bay South West Rocks on 11 and 12 February. As we head to our Christmas Party this afternoon at the Toormina Hotel, wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year with family and friends. Enjoy the break and for those with events in early 2023 train well and stay safe. Thank you! Peter Birch, Race Director
