30 members and visitors turned out this morning on what was ideal racing conditions for our second Long Course event and Enticer and our final race of the season. In the Long event Shannon O’Hara took out the fastest female in 1:41:16, followed by Andrea Burth in 1:59:44 and Alira Bayndrian in 2:03:15.
In the males, Huson Barry clocked the fastest across the line in 1:36:27 followed by Michael Brennan in 1:40:40 and Chris Hodge in 1:42:32. These guys were followed by a steady stream with Ben Rose, Shaun Bayndrian, Michael Singleton, Scott Tarplee, Adam Cox and Brad Henry. Good to see Eddie Harrod back for a run and doing a slick time. Two took the shorter option with Peter Birch and Tess Hawkins having a go, Tess unfortunately having a flat, but well done to you. Today’s principal race sponsor was Coffs Coast Sports Physiotherapy and we were grateful Matt Becker was able to come along and kindly present some generous random prizes on offer including a 1 hour massage, exercise physiology session, a pair of Archies and more. Club coach Trent Renshaw also works with Matt and I’m sure many of us would love to hit Matt and Trent up for an end of season session and massage. Thanks also to the Moonee Beach Hotel for the meal vouchers this season that have extended to be provided at every race! Thanks to everyone that put their hand up this season to volunteer and to our crew today ably led by Kate Marden who was keeping an eye on things. Volunteer of the week goes to Shirley Sneddon for epic support on the swim and run. Full results can be found on the web site at http://www.coffstri.com/results.html. For those using Strava check out this race report that can also be found there. To those racing at Port Ironman next weekend - wishing you all the very best for all the hard training you have been getting done. And for those intrepid souls venturing to Byron for the Sprint and Olympic on 13 May have a good time up there and race well. A reminder that our end of year celebration comes in the form of the Club Champs at Forster on Saturday 27 May (1km swim/ 27km bike/ 8km run - shorter distances available) A new bike and run course that is being hosted by Tri NSW and run by H Events. The Club has booked 50 accommodation beds that are sponsored and will include two nights and food and drinks prior to Presentation at Club Forster on Saturday night. So put your name down for this one as a great end of season event - Here is the link to Sticky Tickets to sign up. Following the Club Champs we have our Club Presentation and AGM at the Jetty Beach House on Sunday 4 June at 3pm. Lots of awards on offer including Club Champion, Club Person of the Year and more….. Tickets at $20 per head, including a drink voucher and light food options, will be available through Sticky Tickets and the link will be posted soon on the website and socials. So as we come to a close for the 2022-23 race season, there’s lots to be grateful for with improved weather overall and for next season, looking forward to having coaches on board, scheduled training sessions and if it all comes off the return of the Coffs Triathlon event (formerly the BCU Tri). A big thanks for participating, to everyone that volunteered and to the Committee that supported all of the activities of the Tri Club. See ya next season 23-24! Peter Birch Race Director
