14/9/2020 1 Comment Triathlon Season to go AheadA familiar site at the Jetty Foreshores every summer since 1985, the Coffs Harbour Triathlon Club kicks off with their first race of the season on Sunday 27 September 2020.
The club have faced many challenges over the last 35 years of racing but this year will be the first pandemic they have raced through. “The club is very grateful to our peak body Triathlon Australia for providing direction and advice to enable our club and many others to race this season. We have watched as other codes of sport have put restrictions in place over the last few months to enable them to successfully deliver their competitions. Similarly, we have put many strategies in place to enable a safe environment for our members and the community,” said Coffs Harbour Triathlon Club President Shaun Lawer. The club holds fortnightly races starting at the Yacht Club at the Jetty Foreshores. This season will be a little different with race briefings and presentations moving online and pre-registration required to race. A COVID Safe Marshall will be in place at all races and NSW Government Health requirements implemented. “Unfortunately this year we will also be unable to offer one day licences or hold our novice events. We are a friendly and welcoming club that encourage new members to join. We were all new members once! If anyone is considering joining, take the plunge and sign up,” said Shaun Lawer. The Coffs Harbour Triathlon Club has the support of a number of local business throughout the region. Club President Shaun says that the club is extremely grateful for their continued support during these tough economic times. “We really see ourselves as part of the Coffs Harbour community and the support we continue to receive from local business is just fantastic. During these times we are encouraging our members to shop local and support the businesses that support us.” You can find out more about the Coffs Harbour Triathlon Club on their website www.coffstri.com
