2024/25 Race #1 sponsored by Viridan Glass

A fantastic Race 1 for the Coffs Tri Club in what were wet and cool conditions. Firstly a huge shout out to our sponsor Viridian Glass, thanks Ian for your support.

A total of 27 athlete's took to the start line, with a great mix of different age groups, varied experience and five first timers. Ashlee, Scott, Mike, Leon and Rhys - congratulations on your first race or welcome back to the club! I look forward to seeing you have a successful season with us. Please feel to reach out if you need any support.

Race options were super sprint, sprint and aquathlon. The results have been posted - check out how you went HERE.

Reports coming in have said the swim being 4+ degrees warmer in than out was a great way to start the race. The bike course was slippery and challenging but everyone played it safe and not one incident was reported. Well done everyone! The new run course had smiles all round and some very impressive times have been recorded. Both female and male results were very close at the front end. Mel Silvester took the win for the women, posting a 1.15.58, from Annie at 1.16.29 and Julie at 1.21.15. In the men's category, young Ben Rose took the win with a 1.12.52, from Shaun at 1.13.42 and club president Chris at 1.15.40.

A couple of special shout outs: Thanks to Isabella Bowes for swimming with another athlete until the swim volunteer team could come and support. Scott Walcott recorded the fastest bike split - 34.23 at his first ever triathlon, one to watch during the season! Thank you to all the volunteers for the very early start and making sure everyone could come and race.

Thanks to everyone for your support with my first race as RD throwing in a lead volunteer. Enjoy your training, be safe and see you next race!

Regards, Ado
